When I was about 12 I got taken on a family holiday to France. I didn't want to go because the Stranglers were playing in Dunfermline after rescheduling their banned Edinburgh gig . Over the weeks of the holiday I created a shrine to my punk idols in a windswept cove near La Rochelle from beach detritus and played out an adolescent fantasy . After a storm the Stranglers got washed out to sea. No more hero's anymore.
